3D Laser Scanning

The Greenhatch Group have over 7 years’ experience within the field of 3D Laser Scanning, being one of the first surveying practices in the U.K. to purchase and utilise the original and ground-breaking Cyrax laser scanning system.

By being part of the early processing techniques for laser scanning technology, we have gained invaluable experience and insight into the correct procedures and methodology required to provide comprehensive and more importantly inherently accurate laser scanning point cloud data.

As an example of our credentials, the Greenhatch Group is proud to have been selected by English Heritage some 5 years ago to provide Metric Services using Laser Scanning technologies and within the last 2 years we have also provided similar services for the Sister organisation, Historic Scotland.

Our selection by such prestigious bodies is founded on our professional approach to the registration and acquisition of laser scanning point cloud data, which encompasses over 20 years of accumulated knowledge in Geomatic and Engineering solutions within the Greenhatch Group.
As a casing point, all site laser scanning methodology and data acquisition techniques are strictly undertaken in full accordance with the rules and guidelines stated within the "Metric Survey Specifications for Cultural Heritage" Section 7: Standard specification for collection and archiving of terrestrial laser scan data, being a set of guidelines established by the "Heritage 3D" steering group which Greenhatch was proud to be part off.

3d Laser Scanning technology is utilised throughout all the various disciplines of the Greenhatch Group as a way of providing high quality cartographical detail whilst at the same time providing efficient and time saving solutions on site. All significant variants of laser scanning technology are used within our organisation to provide the highest quality service and such equipment used to date consists of the following:

  •  Short range, phased based laser scanners- Leica HDS 6200 & Z+F 5010i.
  •  Medium range, pulse based laser scanners- Leica ScanStation & Leica C10.
  •  Long range, pulse based laser scanners- Leica HDS 8800.
Further information on the range of products that we can provide with laser scanning
technology and relevant examples of each category can be selected above.
